Why we teach prompt engineering first

In a July 2026 episode of the Moonshots podcast, Dave Blundin (Link Ventures) and Dr. Alexander Wissner-Gross discussed how fast AI capability is compounding — and what that means for how people should be taught to use it. Blundin's take, on the pace at which today's advanced techniques become tomorrow's baseline model capability:

“Next semester every university in the country should have a class called scaffolding. And everybody should have the opportunity to learn how to do this, because that is the power tool of all power tools for any entrepreneur… It's coming up on August. You have 30 days to get your class curriculum together and launch it for next semester.”

Wissner-Gross's response: “With prompt engineering as a prerequisite topic.”

— Moonshots with Peter Diamandis, EP #275, ~55:00 (July 29, 2026)

That's the gap our 101 curriculums are built to close — teaching people how to work with AI intentionally, not just chase whatever the newest chat window can do.

Three courses, twelve weeks, free tools only. Read them in order, because each one assumes the last.

1. Prompt Engineering 101. How to ask for what you actually want.

2. Scaffolding 101. How to turn one good prompt into a system you reuse.

3. Vibe Code 101. How to build and ship real software.

Who this is for: Anyone who keeps getting told they should learn AI and hasn't found a place to start. You don't need a coding background, and you don't need to install anything on day one.

What you need: A Google account and a browser. Every assignment runs on free tools, and nothing in here asks you for a credit card.

How long it takes: Each course is four weeks, four assignments per week. One assignment a day finishes a course in about a week. That pacing is a suggestion. Plenty of people go faster or slower, and neither is a problem.

What this won't do: Twelve weeks of reading and exercises gives you a foundation. It doesn't give you a credential, and it doesn't make you an AI engineer.

Custom curriculum

The three courses are written to be general, because they have to work for a lot of different people. If you want a version built for your team, your classroom, or your industry, get in touch and we can talk through what that would look like.
